Manchester United moved into the top six of the Premier League table with a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, thanks to a spectacular goal from Alejandro Garnacho.
The Spanish striker opened the scoring in the third minute with a stunning bicycle kick from Diogo Dalot’s cross, reminiscent of Wayne Rooney’s famous strike against Manchester City in 2011.
Everton had plenty of chances to equalise, but were denied by some heroic defending from United, who had 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo making his first league start in midfield.
Andre Onana also made some crucial saves in the United goal, keeping out Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil, while Abdoulaye Doucoure and Vitalii Mykolenko both missed the target.
United doubled their lead from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, after Ashley Young fouled Anthony Martial in the box. Marcus Rashford converted the spot-kick with a powerful shot into the top corner, scoring his first league goal since September.
Martial then sealed the win with a clever finish from Bruno Fernandes’ pass in the 75th minute, scoring his ninth goal against Everton in all competitions.
The result lifted United to sixth place with 24 points, while Everton remained in the relegation zone with four points.
