The African National Congress (ANC) has released a media statement that it has settled out of court with eZulweni Investments over the alleged funds being owed to the company by the party.
The ANC had previously stated that they “did not owe eZulweni anything” according to the party’s secretary general Fikile Mbalula also claiming the invoices were fake and AI-generated. While the party has not provided any more info about the settlement, it does raise suspicions as the party had previously vowed to not pay the company a single cent even after the Special Court of Appeal’s ruling mandating them to do so.
Critics of the party have posed the same question that has been on everyone’s mind as to why they’re choosing to settle instead of standing their ground on the matter. Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono quoted the SG’s previous comments that they will not go into an AI generated eZulweni:
UrbanSway has reached out to the ANC spokesperson for further comment and has not received an response at the time of publishing.
